DL has the highest bust rate of any IDP position. Only elite edge rushers justify picks before round 10. The difference between DL12 and DL24 is just 8% — wait and load up on offense.
Sack YoY correlation is 0.25 — essentially random. A DL who had 12 sacks is equally likely to have 4 or 14 the next year. Draft for tackle floor, treat sacks as a bonus.
3-down DEs on losing teams are gold mines. They play more snaps (more opportunity) and losing teams face more pass attempts (more sack chances). Snaps + situation > raw talent.
DE (edge rushers) score more in sack-heavy scoring systems. DT is valuable only in tackle-heavy formats. In standard IDP scoring, DEs outscore DTs by 20-30% on average.
Extremely volatile. Sack YoY correlation is 0.25 — the lowest of any IDP stat. A 10-sack season is followed by anywhere from 3 to 14 sacks.
DL should be your last IDP position drafted, typically rounds 10-12. Only elite edge rushers justify earlier picks.
